Pastor Benny L Sells was born to the late Curtis and Benzell Sells on March 24, 1962, in Salinas, California. He was the fourth oldest of eight children. Growing up, Pastor Sells enjoyed competing with his brothers and sisters in track and field with the Salinas Valley Track Club; where he competed in the hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and relay teams. He continued in track and field throughout college and went on to coach at North Salinas High School.
Pastor Sells was an adventurous person; he loved to travel, go to concerts, and was a faithful UFC and Oakland Raider fan. He was a hard and dedicated worker. He was employed with the Salinas Union School District for 23 years.
On November 22, 1997, Pastor Benny L. Sells married the love of his life Denise (Easley) Sells. To this union, they loved and raised three (3) sons. He enjoyed the fatherly bond with his sons and was an active part of their lives.
As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Under the leadership of the late Pastors Herman Simpson and Johnny T. Franklin he later became a licensed Minister at Royal Family Church of God in Christ. Under the mentorship of Superintendent John T. Webster he served as the Youth Pastor and Sunday School Superintendent at Soul Searching Church of God in Christ.
In January 2006, he yielded to the call from God to Pastor the Los Banos Ministries and in September of the same year he became the Founder and Pastor of Holy Ghost Temple Bible Based Ministries. Pastor Sells was known as a kindhearted and strong man of God.
Pastor Benny L. Sells departed this life to be present with Lord on December 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lawrence R. Sells.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His devoted wife of 19 years, Denise Sells; three sons, Prince Williams of Salinas, California, Richard Easley of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Joshua Easley of Kent, Washington; six siblings; Peggie Choate, Curtis E. Sells, Jr., Arlene Owens, Wendell L. Sells, Sr., Theresa L. Sells, and Eric A. Sells; seven grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his wonderful church family, Holy Ghost Temple.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 1-9pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 16, 2016 11am the Greater Victory Temple 1620 Broadway Ave./Obama Way Seaside, CA 93955.
Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.

It has been amazing to see how many lives Pastor Benny Sells has touched.
Truly he was an amazing man, loving husband, father and pastor. There is no words to express how much he will be missed.
