I am Eric Gardner. I am a retired Navy Officer and now Realtor with RE/MAX Alliance in Virginia Beach. I was just able to assist two great US Navy Sailors with the purchase of their first home. They are a family whose love and resilience truly inspired me.
Daniel and Deardre Bebeau are both Navy Petty Officers stationed at NAS Oceana. They have two beautiful chidren, Aryana (6) and Daniel, Jr (3). Daniel Jr. was born at the US Navy Hospital in Guam and diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. They arrived in Virginia Beach last year and we have been looking for a home to meet their family requirements.
We found a home that met their needs with respect to single level, wide hallways, and generous space for Daniel Jr's physical therapy needs; however there are additional home modifications that are required in order for all of his apparatus to move freely about, including flooring changes throughout the home.
There are several programs available that assist disabled Veterans with home modifications, but none for service members with exceptional children. As a member of the Veterans Real Estate Benefits Network, we were able to provide the family with $2051 to go towards those modifications.
I wanted to set up this GoFundMe page in an attempt to raise an additional $5000 to assist the Bebeau's with the home modifications they require for Daniel Jr's equipment. Daniel Bebeau will leave on his second deployment in less than a year next month, and it is my hope to be able to present them with this assistance before he deploys.
