Beards for Brothers 2017

Beards for brothers 2017:
The Officers from Akron Borough, Columbia Borough, East Hempfield Township, Millersville University, Strasburg Borough, Elizabethtown Borough, West Hempfield Township, West Lampeter Township Police, and the Lancaster City Police Departments will be participating in a No-Shave November campaign to help raise awareness for Cancer. This is the fourth year that Chiefs of Police have lifted their departments’ facial hair policies and will be allowing officers to grow beards through the month of November.
Each year Officers select someone from the community who is currently battling Cancer. This year the Beards for Brothers campaign will be donating all money raised to A Week Away (AWA). AWA is a non-profit organization that “coordinates and funds respite weeks for families who are battling a life-threatening illness, with the goal of providing them the hope they need to continue their fight”.
As officers we swore to serve and protect our communities. We chose to raise money to support those community members that are fighting the battle against cancer and show them police officers stand beside them. By supporting AWA’s mission, we are able to reach more members of our communities in an effort to show our commitment to those who face cancer.
