Donation protected
My daughter Alexis has been nominated by her high school to attend the 9 day National Student Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. at the historic American University this August. You can help nurture her interest in becoming a trauma surgeon with your donations.

UPDATE: With the support we've received so far, we have been able to place our down payment and secure her spot. Continued donations are still needed! Additionally we need to raise $4,160 TO MEET OUR GOAL OF $5,000 by June 15, 2019.

Tuition cost: $3,295
Travel expenses: $400
Food: $205
Lodging: $1,100
**Any and all remaining funds will be placed in a college fund.

Alexis, who likes to be referred to as Lexi, is a freshmen in high school. She currently holds a 3.76 GPA, is a proud member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC), serves on the Color Guard, and is an award winning level 7 competitive Gymnast with the Olympic Academy of Gymnastics. She spends her time studying, serving as a Flag Bearer for volunteer details with AFJROTC, and at gym practice for nearly 20 hours per week. She is funny, laid back, and extremely kind. She loves to watch Grey's Anatomy and chill with her therapy cat who we fondly call Katie Purrry.

Lexi dreams of joining the military and serving our country as a trauma surgeon. She would like to focus her field of study on Neuroscience. If she's fortunate to raise enough money and attend the National Student Leadership Conference on Psychology and Neuroscience, serving as a health professional will become a reality for her. While at the NSLC, Lexi will  have the opportunity to perform clinical rounds where she will listen, assess, and suggest treatments for patients. She will also visit medical facilities and interact with clinical psychologists and neurologists, researchers, and medical students. The program also offers a ton of hands-on workshops during which she will learn the science of neurotransmitters, compare scans of normal and abnormal brains, and examine the anatomy of the brain all while earning college credit! Check out a sample schedule HERE.

Did you ever have a dream? Did you accomplish that dream? Imagine how you felt, or would have felt, if your passions were nurtured. I can't do this on my own. It takes a lot for me to admit that as a mother. However, with my pride set aside, I am asking for your help. Each donation made tells my amazing daughter that you believe in her and support her dreams too. For this, I am forever grateful.
