June 15th
Early on saturday june 15th jen was taken by ambulance to spectrum ER. In the ambulance her heart stopped and they started chest compressions. Those continued for an hour while trauma team started treatment.
In truma they treated the pulmonary embolism with the clot busting medication TPa and placed jen on ECMO (advanced life support that circulates and oxygenats blood as well and breaths for her). They attempted to place the ECMO in her right leg and her right arm unsuccessfully but got it into her left leg. Due to the attempts made to get ecmo in and the TPa medication she had bleeding in her right leg and right arm that needed to be fixed with surgery. After surgery she held stable overnight
June 16th
Early sunday morning family received the update that her blood was clotting in wrong spots but also thin (blood in disarray). We were told that she has a low chance of survival and may have to have limbs amputated due to lack of circulation. Especially her right leg and left arm. But still just waiting to see how ecmo goes and if her blood can start correcting itself. At 9 pm on sunday Jen went for a catscan which showed fluid around her spleen, in her chest and some possible swelling in her brain. The doctors made the decision to see if her spleen resolved itself or would need intervention.
Monday june 17th
Early monday morning it was decided to take Jen to surgery where they removed her spleen and the fluid in her abdominal cavity. They checked her other organs and all of those looked healthy. She held stable after surgery for a few hours. However she started to decline again with more bleeding in her belly as well as just general blood and fluid loss throughout her whole body. Quality of life if she were to survive would not have been acceptable for her and the decision was made to end life supporting care. At 5:15 she was taken off life support and time of death was declared at 5:18 pm. Money raised will go towards final expenses and medical bills.
