Baxter has Heartworms & Needs Treatment

My humans found Baxter. He was skinny, dirty & alone. But such a fun dog who is going to be my best friend. They did the right thing & took him in to the local shelter. Hoping his owner would come get him. I know my family would come get me if I was lost.
His photo was posted on FB & immediately everyone knew him. 10 days later we got a call, his owner never came. So we happily adopted him & he is a cattle dog just like I am.
So we drove him to our vet for all his shots, a new license & to get nuetered. Ouch I remember that! But we got a call a few hours later, he had heartworms. It's a long, & expensive process to make him better.
The local shelter said they would help us pay for some of the cost. We are a small community. Our shelter is under a new director & he is working hard to implement some great programs.
My human helped me start this Go Fund Me to not only pay the shelter back for helping with Baxters vet bill, but to also help with a feral cat catch, spay & release they are hoping to do.
Baxter has done his 30 days of antibiotic & goes in Monday for a 5 day hospital stay. I'm going to miss him. He will get 2 shots that will kill the worms & hopefully make him feel better. Though he won't be able to play with me for awhile, by this summer we are going to be having a blast.
