BARE - A Short Film

I directed my first short film, A Social Life, over a year ago and as of today more than 1.2 million people around the world have seen it, so it's only appropriate that my next project found it's way to me via social media.

One of the young women that I used to coach in vaulting, Rebecca Hall, recently posted on Facebook a beautiful short story about her experience having breast cancer at the young age of 25. I immediately saw it as my next film project and I set aside some personal funds to take on this new project BARE.

After months of scripting and many discussions, Rebecca and I have realized that this project is much larger than both of us, it has the potential to reach so many women around the world. And so, we are going to need your help to bring it to life in a much larger way. It's going to take a community to bring BARE to life and I hope that you will be willing to take part.

Less than 5% of breast cancer patients in the US are under the age of 40, which means most of the support resources (both emotional and medical) are focused on women 40+. One of the profound things that stands out about getting cancer in your 20's and 30's is the community to turn to is limited, there are few resources that address your concerns, you're still discovering who you are, looking for your soulmate and just beginning your career.

We have a great young cast attached to act in the film (Aurora Perrineau, B.K. Cannon and Melissa Cordero) as well as very talented professionals on the crew. We are in discussions several cancer organizations to be able to share this message with their community, we will also be submitting to some of the top film festivals in the world.
