Barbara Poux Double Lung Transplant Recovery Fund

So I hate asking for help...Hate, hate, HAAAATE it. I could be starving without a penny to my name and you would never know it. But I finally have realized that, this time, it's not about me or my stubborn pride. So here's something I NEVER would normally say publicly...I need help.

My mother Barbara Jean Poux has suffered from sarcoidosis for nearly 40 years. She recently underwent a double lung transplant. Things were going astoundingly well until she suffered a stroke. At this current time, she is unable to speak and has lost nearly all movement on her right side.

I would never exaggerate or inflate a situation for sympathy, but here's the truth: My mother lives in a small 2 bedroom apt in Mansfield, TX...my hometown. Her 81 year old mother lives there also. My mother takes care of her. Not long ago, some "less than tidy" neighbors moved out and all of their pest friends found their way to my mom's apt. I won't go into details, but let's just say the apt is in dire need of treatment. Also the entire contents of the apt are in need of replacement all due to absolutely no fault of my mom or grandmother.

I have complained and complained to management and they have done absolutely nothing. We do not have time for a long drawn out legal battle. I believe wholeheartedly that my mom will be leaving that hospital in the near future. Upon doing so, she will need a clean and sterile place to rest and recover. Her immune system will be so delicate that living in the apt at it's current state could be dangerous. Possibly fatal...and that is no exaggeration.

Folks will say "Gary just use all that big Hollywood money you have!" because they have seen me on TV and think that I am out in (ridiculously expensive) California just big ballin and living it up. Please don't be fooled. I can ASSURE you this could not be any further from the truth. Several of my fellow actor friends also struggle with this huge misconception. Two words: Geoffrey Owens.

Aaaaallllll that to say this...and I do so with tears in my eyes...we could use your help. Doesn't even have to be monetary. If you have an extra sofa or bed you can donate, heck we'll take it! Just has to be clean due to the aforementioned health issues. Also, traveling back and forth from California to help with my mother is not cheap. At all. I have a wife and 2 beautiful kids of my own (ages 2 and 1) to take care of. If you travel for business and have racked up any frequent flyer miles you can spare, I will certainly take them. Finally, I have no idea what her continued health care bills will look like at this point, but I'm sure that won't be any fun either.

I know this was all very long-winded and you have aged at least 6 years from the time you began reading this, but please understand that this is extremely difficult for me to do. Never done this before. Even if you cannot donate, PLEEEAAASE know I understand and just appreciate your prayers and thoughts. I truly mean that!

I can't put my phone # on here, but if needed, please contact me via Facebook or email at [email redacted].

Thank you so much.
