What is the Bantunium Foundation?
Bantunium Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization bridging the gap between founders of color and opportunities to grow their tech startups and small businesses.
What is the benefit to founders of color?
We provide funding opportunities via pitch competitions, scholarships, fellowships, and grants that will help founders get their companies to MVP and a place where they can seek larger funding rounds.
What are some of the programs Bantunium Foundation supports?
We provide support for the following programs:
Bantunium Labs Accelerator - Quarterly, we open applications for the Accelerator. If selected, these companies receive enhanced mentorship and pre-seed capital to get their businesses started. The program lasts for 6 months and the company should be up and running by the end of that term.
Young CEO Camp - This camp is a 2-week session in the summer that teaches rising high school juniors and seniors about entrepreneurship. Students will have workshops and be able to develop an actual business. At the end of the camp, students get to pitch their business for their chance to win funding to start the business. This program partners with the Dunta Robinson Foundation .
Afro-Economic Forum - Coming in 2018, this event is a 2-day conference designed to educate unlikely investors on the startup ecosystem. Companies will be able to present to investors for potential capital and 4 lucky businesses are chosen for an extended pitch on the final day to win a one on one with the investors.
As we grow, we hope to add to this list but our focus is to grow businesses that directly impact our community.
How can I be a part of what the organization is doing?
Like all organizations, there is always room for growth to assistance is great to have. Currently, we have positions available on our advisory board, who is responsible for maintaining the program. We always have positions available for industry specific mentors to take a new business under their wing.
