Please help support our dear friend/colleague Jana, her four boys and husband, Mike Roth, as he battles cancer.
I am sharing Mike's story that has been written by his sister-in-law Jamie.
March 2011 Mike Roth was diagnosed with testicular cancer. At the time, he and his wife Jana had three little boys ages 4, 2 and 6 months old and were leading a new church – Real Life Community Church. Mike endured chemo treatments and fought hard for his life. He was able to live 7 more wonderful years, had another son and continued to build his church and share his faith. In March of 2018, at the age of 39, he was once again fighting cancer and this time in his eye and growing aggressively. After many tests, major surgery and months of chemo and radiation, Mike was finished treatment and given the go ahead to recover and enjoy life.
In the next year, Mike enjoyed each and every day with his family and he has remained so positive, strong, faithful and giving. Mike and Jana love to enjoy the outdoors exploring with their four boys Toby, Tyler, Keegan and Colton. They often camp in their Volkswagon van, ride dirt bikes, quads and are up for trying new things. If anyone knows Mike you know how creative, handy, strong, loving and selfless he is and through all of this he has continued to show these qualities to all of his family and friends.
A few months ago Mike started to experience neck and back pain. As the pain worsened and he went through more tests, doctors have confirmed the cancer is back and has spread through his bones in his body, it has reached his hip and liver and continues to spread. They are now working their best to keep Mike comfortable as this time they will not be able to treat his cancer.
Although this is not the plan any of them have wanted, Mike has shown such hope through it all. He continues to laugh, pray, and mentor his family. He continuously gives Jana hope to live life to the fullest with their four boys, to have adventures with them and keep having fun. Mike feels so much peace and knows he will be meeting his maker face to face in Heaven where there will be no more suffering.
Mike and Jana are so overwhelmed by all the support they have received over these last few years from so many amazing people. They truly have a huge community of people bringing them in and loving them in so many ways. As Jana enters this next season of learning to live without Mike and raising their four boys, prayer or financial help is truly appreciated. Jana will be taking a leave of absence from her job to focus on Mike in this next season and then to be home with their boys as they learn to face life without their beloved husband and father. Continue to pray for this amazing family at this time and know that through all of this our Father in Heaven truly has a plan and we look to Him for ultimate hope and comfort.
