Hey its Jamal Hodge, back again, and I have exciting news. WE'RE GOING BACK TO CANNES !! This time with TWO films! An urban drama I wrote and directed called The Knockout Game and a drama based around police brutality that I produced called JAKE directed and written by Mike Tyner.
Thanks to your contributions, last year I got to experience life changing opportunities at the 69th Festival de Cannes. People took notice of my work, such as The Hollywood App IAMFILM ( https://www.iamfilmapp.com/ ) They have named me as part of their Talent 100, a title reserved for 100 emergent filmmakers they feel are the best undiscovered talents in the world. This comes with their support in finding funding for my feature film 'The Kind Ones' which is based off the short film that went to Cannes last year.
Following Cannes In 2016 my films have appeared in over 17 film festivals and won 5 awards. My film, 'The Jump' is now on Amazon Prime for download or purchase. And lastly I was named onto the Jury of the Albanian Film week https://gazetaprishtinapress.com/2017/04/21/afw-film-festival-announces-2017-jury-and-special-awards/
Still I was ill-prepared for my first trip to Cannes. It was an overwhellming and humbling spectacle. I made several rookie mistakes, since I didn't even know we had to pre set meetings or to attend the first critical week of the festival.
This year I know we can achieve so much more. We are prepared for the grand circus and currently have two feature film projects in development. Our DECKS are ready, or targets identified, our purpose known!!
We just need help getting there... because, despite all the success we've had, a week in Cannes is still brutally expensive. Ranging from $5000-$6000 a person.
So I'm back for the last time asking for your aide.

KNOCKOUT GAME SYNOPSIS
Wikipedia says: The “knockout game” is one of the many names given by the American news media to assaults in which one or more assailants attempt to “knock out” an unsuspecting victim. This is often done with a single sucker punch for the amusement of the attackers and their accomplices. Serious injuries and even deaths have been attributed to the “knockout game”. Some news sources report that there was an escalation of such attacks in late 2013, and, in some cases, the attacker was charged with a hate crime.
Gregory Freeman, is a young fatherless teenager in inner-city NYC. A promising student, he is lost, searching for how to be a man in all the wrong places. He looks to G-Life, a self-proclaimed ‘thug’ for guidance. G-life introduces him to The Knockout Game and Gregory decides to play. He wants to get in good with G-Life’s crew and be accepted by the bad boys, the powerful boys. The boys with respect. But soon G-Life demands he take the game to its sickest levels, attacking the elderly.
When one of his victims, an African immigrant woman of over 65 years is placed into a comma, Her son Togar decides to look for more than revenge, he decides to play a sadistic game of his own, and no one in Gregory’s life will be sparred. Knockout Game is a cautionary tale, that explores the cycles of violence with an unflinching eye.www.directorhodge.com
