Baby Kash and Family
Kash is 3mos old, he has just been diagnosed with Retino Blastoma. It is a rare type of eye cancer that usually effects young children.
Kash was officially diagnosed 7/20/15. Our entire family is devastated and completely unprepared to financially handle everything that's comes with a child that has cancer.
Mom and dad both held jobs and struggled and now they will be trying to make one income work. Mom must stay home with Kash to care for him and monitor his health during chemo. Kash started Chemo on Thursday July,23,15.
We are creating this account to help ease the financial burden of medical bills and everyday necessities.
At this time we have no idea what lies ahead. We believe in the power of prayer please keep my grandson Kash in your prayers. We welcome all prayers and any donation to help our family during this time.
The family is getting buried with medical bills and debt due to their situation, they are dollars over the financial limits for state health assistance and food stamps, they have private insurance and have a few thousand dollars still owed from 2015 and now have to hit the 3500 deductible for 2016. Both vehicles need major work to allow them to take Kash to treatment and Dad to work. They desperately need to move and are not able to. Basic needs are difficult to obtain and their regular house hold bills are becoming over whelming! please help in anyway you can!
Update on Baby Kash:
Kash is now 9 mo's old He has had over 70 clinic and hospital visits, 6 rounds of chemo, countless pokes and blood draws and test and 13 blood & platelet infusions. Kash's last exam proved what the doctors thought and his parents feared, up until recently Kash was only effected by retinoblastoma in one eye, his last exam showed his right eye is also effected he has Hereditary bilateral retinoblastoma. He has a great team and he was caught early, however he has a high risk of more tumours appearing and more growth over the next five years. Retinoblastoma usually effects children From 0-5 however it is not limited to. Right now he is doing good and I be live the power of prayer is working.
Please pray for my Grandson, Please donate and share his gofund me on facebook!
You are welcome to follow his facebook page
Thank you all in advance,
God Bless Baby Kashie's Nana
Kash, has had to have a 1 blood transfusion and 2 blood platelets transfusions so far to keep his white blood count up and hemoglobin level up. The first two weeks post chemo they had to go to the oncology clinic everyday. Now Kash's levels and health look good so we are praying things stay this way so he could possibly have out patient Chemo from now on. We will learn more after his hospital stay on the 18th.
Baby Kash's first MRI and testing post Chemo is coming up on August 18th. Please continue to pray for baby Kash we are praying for a miracle. They will also being doing a full check for other tumors and a full check on his little organs.
God bless each and every one of you that has prayed, donated, shared his story and or fund, given words of wisdom, given hugs , given sweet words and any other way you have helped support this little baby. He need a lot more help and the family has a long road ahead of them. So please continue to help as much as you can and in anyway you can. Thank you all!
We want to be open and honest with everyone. Where the money is going:
Majority of the money is going to Hospital stays and treatment some we may have to use for everyday needs like electricity, water, food, gas for all the doctors and hospital visits etc. but of course his medicine and medical supplies and medical bills come first but electricity is very important so he doesn't get a fever which could be pretty serious. Right now we are not behind on any of our house hold bills and I pray that stays that way however I just quit my job less than two weeks ago because Kash can't be in day care. We do not have cable we have Internet only and share one cell phone. As of now we do not qualify for state assistant.(barely over) We don't know how much everything will add up to yet because this is all very new and we don't know everything to come. But I will share everything I do know. We were called by someone from the hospital trying to collect money for the bills while we were still in the hospital during the first stay it was going to be 6k after insurance that does include the family plan deductible which is 3k I believe but after its met they cover 90% we pay 10% however that first stay of 6k was before they placed a port in Kash's chest and before Kash and I stayed 3 more days (total of 7 days the first time) in the hospital and before the first round of chemo. Also Kash needs to take medicine all but one add up to $143 a month our co pay and The one I left out Is called neupogen and out of pocket for a month supply that Kash has to take would be $9,000 however the insurance approved it today and our co payment will be $2,300 a month and this would be every month for the minimum of 6 months. We are looking into programs to help reduce this cost. Right now we are taking him to the clinic everyday for this shot and they will bill us for the first round later. Also he has weekly visits to the Clinic and blood test etc. Once a month they do in patient chemo for now and it will be a 3 day stay in the hospital followed by 28 days off. Once a month post chemo he will have a MRI and other testing to check progress and make sure it has not spread. The first one and will be August,18 I believe these will be over night stays because of all the other testing. As long as the cancer doesn't spread he should have a less aggressive medical plan after 6 Mo's which as far as I know will be regular Dr visits (Oncologist) and once every other months MRI's (not sure if these will be in patient or not and blood test until he is 2-3 years old if that goes as plan it will drop to once a year. What we need help with is the first 6 mos as long as this goes to plan. Even with insurance it will be costly. I will be posting MRI and Bills also as they come. This is just the beginning of our minimum 6 mos journey and we know not everyone is not in the position to give money we understand that and we feel funny asking for it but at the end of the day we are both (dad and I) big hearted people and have and will help people in need. Help doesn't just mean donations, sharing our story maybe someone can help or have advice that can lead to help, and the power of prayer is amazing and we believe in it! Unfortunately god doesn't help anyone that doesn't help them self's and Kash is too little to know he needs help. As parent we are devastated that he is going through this and we are ashamed we can do it all ourselves. so that's why we are seeking help. We are also seeking help through any finical programs we can and if we do qualify for anything at anytime we will let you know we are good and no longer need help or what the program has helped us with. Thank you everyone so far for sharing and praying and donating. We have a long road ahead of us. We are just parents trying to help or baby anyway we know how! Chas and Denie
So sorry to hear about baby Kash. We don't know each other, but I found your page through a mutual friend. My son is almost 4 months old and was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma at 2 months of age back in May - I so wish I was able to donate as I know the financial struggle this causes for the family - but I'm in the same boat unfortunately. But I did want to extend prayers and an open door to chat ANY TIME. I know how rare this cancer is and how alone you can feel during this journey - support goes a long way! Best of luck to baby Kash. These kids are fighters! ♥
