Baby Quanstrom IVF Journey

Hello!

We represent many of Pastor Danny and Kayla's friends here at Hastings Church of the Nazarene or what we like to call it, Hastings Naz, thanks to the Quanstroms. Pastor Danny and Kayla Quanstrom are two amazing people who have not only changed our lives, but hundreds around the Hastings Community, Gaming World Community, Grand Rapids Community and many more around the United States and World. They have always had the calling to help people and God has sent them all the way from the big Kansas City lights to the front door of a small church in Hastings, Michigan. They came from a place where everything was convenient, familiar and comfortable, but they heard God's calling to head north where the big city was more than 20 miles away, no friends and family near by and just not comfortable yet. However, they took on this community with open arms and embraced all of its love and challenges. You would look at this couple and wish you had an ounce of their enthusiasm for life! They genuinely cared for you.

As many of us have our own story of how we got to know the Quanstroms, but we had the pleasure of meeting Pastor Danny through our coffee shop as he frequently wrote his sermons there. We were then invited over for dinner, then to their small group and then we finally made Hastings Naz our home. Both Danny and Kayla had invested in us and our family. They build lasting relationships were ever they go.

They have not only embraced us, but the children of the church as well. They were so excellent with them, everyone, including myself, would ask the routine question. "When are you going to have kids?" Little did we know, they have been trying for 6 years. They eventually opened up their lives to their friends and family here at the church of their struggle to become parents. Many of us cannot imagine the heartache they have experienced each month with no child on the way.

Pastor Danny and Kayla have changed so many of our lives and we have decided it is our turn to help change theirs. They will be beginning their IVF Journey April 4th. This is when the major payment is due. Sadly, insurance does not cover IVF and the possibility of going through these procedures a second time may happen. We want Pastor and Kayla to be financially prepared, because they deserve the world!

Pastor Danny and Kayla would truly appreciate your help towards their Baby Quanstrom journey, but most of all, they ask for your prayers. They cherish your prayers more than you know!  Please read Danny and Kayla's journey below and thank you for all your love and support towards Baby Quanstrom IVF Journey! #babyq #wegotthis #godisincontrol

Our Fertility Journey

We decided that we would start trying to conceive the month of one of Kayla’s best friend’s wedding; May 2013. Almost two years into our marriage, wrapping up seminary, anticipating pastoring a congregation within the next few years, we thought 2014 would be as good a year as any to have a child. Neither of us had family history of infertility nor, as best we knew, was there anything wrong. We didn’t expect to get pregnant in the first month, or even second, but we could not have anticipated the road before us.

It was the counsel of Kayla’s OBGYN that after trying for one year without conception we should pursue fertility options. We decided that the easiest option was to try a couple rounds of Intrauterine Inception (IUI). We did multiple unsuccessful rounds of IUI. After these failed, Danny ended up having surgery to try to correct things, unfortunately it did not. After recovery we tried a few more rounds of IUI. Again, no baby…

The next step was to pursue alternative medication. We met for months (and still do) with a functional doctor to determine if there was a problem with out diet that prevented the proper hormones for fertility. Our functional doctor has been a great help, but still no baby…

This was when things felt the darkest. We had exhausted nearly every avenue we felt was feasible, we had spent entire months in intentional prayer, we had many other families interceding for us daily. We couldn’t understand why we weren’t able to conceive.

It was hard not to blame God. As much as we don’t believe God is the author of these circumstances, we believed (and still do) that God could grant us a child. Why wasn’t he? We had surrendered our lives to the Lord, and we anticipate surrendering our children to the Lord as well, how were we supposed to surrender something that doesn’t yet exist.

During these dark moments we felt the Lord calling us to surrender possibility. We had to give up even the potential to conceive. We had to hand our future over to the Lord.

After years of prayer, we felt the Lord calling us to pursue In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), something we had never seriously considered because of the cost. We felt the Lord telling us that we needed to let people in to our fertility journey, that our child would be a child of a holy community. A community of faith. A community of friends. Yes, even, a community of doctors.

It was apparent that this was the miraculous work God was doing in our lives; to allow His community to participate in our story. We believe that the work these doctors will do is miraculous and by the grace of God. We believe that the love and support of friends, family, and church, is the miraculous and gracious work of God.

When we made the decision to pursue IVF, instead of racking fear we felt a renewed sense of excitement! As we begin this journey towards our family, we are filled with hope and expectation! We are thankful that you have decided to join us in this journey.
