Baby Lake pregnancy complications
Donation protected
Unexpectantly, Rachel began bleeding on Monday April 2, 2018 while at work at just 23wks and 5 days pregnant. A coworker rushed her to Methodist Germantown where she was diagnosed with a severely shortened, incompetent cervix that will result in preterm labor at some point. Baby Silas is strong at 1.6lbs, but it is a hard financial hit for Cody and Rachel. They have been admitted into the hospital at least until Thursday until repeat ultrasounds to see if the medications she has been receiving has stopped cervical changes. She has completed the doses of Betamethason steroids to help Silas’ lungs, intestines, and brain develop.
The OBGYN and NICU doctors have spoken strongly about strict bedrest, possibly for the remainder of her pregnancy, in hopes to give Silas the best outcome possible. Cody and Rachel’s lives have been dedicated to serving our communities. She is a part-time emergency department nurse as well full-time pediatric nurse at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Cody is a full-time firefighter that is going to have to be the sole provider of their family. Unfortunately, bills don’t stop and neither does responsibilities for the next three months. Rachel does not qualify for paid leave because she has a weekender position at her full-time job. Any amount of help is more than appreciated from donations, prayers, thoughts, or positive vibes.
