Baby Giorgio's Mito Fight!

Hi everyone! Please take a moment to read baby Giorgio's story. We need to help him come to the U.S. the get the medical care that he can only get here.

Giorgio is 2.5 years old an was recently diagnosed with a very rare mitochondrial disease. He was your average, happy toddler when suddenly, he was having difficulty walking, talking, swallowing, and even lifting his head off the pillow. He began to lose muscle tone and strength. Mitcochondria are the cells in your body that control metabolism and give you energy. You need this energy to do everyday normal things, like walk or run, eat, and even breath. When the mitochondria don't function properly, you lose this energy and it can cause organs to stop working, and even shut down. This disease is very rare, and there is NO cure.

We are raising money to help bring Baby Giorgio to the United States to get a second opinion and to get treatment from a pediatric neurologist who specializes in this disease, Dr. Salvatore DiMauro at Columbia.
