Help Baby August Fight Brain Cancer

On May 17th, 2019, Baby August was admitted to Children's Medical Center Dallas' PICU with a brain tumor and excess fluid on his brain. August had an emergency procedure the following morning where they put a tube into his skull to help drain the fluid buildup. The following Monday, May 20th, August survived a 15-hour brain surgery to remove the tumor.
August was diagnosed with an anaplastic ependymoma, which is an aggressive brain cancer. The family continues to be optimistic though because of the miraculous results from his surgery. The surgeons were able to remove almost all of the tumor except for two small pieces by the brain stem and by the facial nerves that control the left side of his face and vocal cord. August is recovering wonderfully from the surgery and the team is amazed at his progress. The neurology and oncology teams are top notch and we have confidence that they will be artful in their treatment plan and in the coordination of his recovery. August will begin the next round of his cancer treatment with chemotherapy on Friday, June 14th. The current plan is for four rounds of chemotherapy followed with proton therapy for two months.
On the day baby August was taken to the hospital, Erica and Aaron had accepted an offer on their house with plans to move to Denver for better job opportunities due to a current struggle in finding employment here. The only thing these 2 parents have asked for since this started were prayers and they remained extraordinarily positive through this whole ordeal. You dont have to be a parent or close friend to this family to feel the impact of what they are going through.
