Baby Alayna

On Saturday August 25th Sam and Garret were so happy celebrating with family and friends at their baby shower. After leaving the baby shower they got something to eat before heading home. Literally a few houses away from being home the vehicle they were in was struck by a drunk driver at 4:30pm. Sam was the front seat passenger and garret was in the back seat. He received most of the impact from the collision.. Garrett started having seizures while sam climbed in the back to help him until they were able to use the jaws of life to get him out if the vehicle. Garret was transferred to Kaweah Delta and Sam was taken to Sierra View. Due to the babys conditions and heart rate an emergency c section was performed and baby alayna was welcomed into the world at 9:30 PM. Sam had to deliver their baby without Garrett by his side! He was in a hospital bed with no idea of what was going on. Mom and baby are doing well but they were robbed of a very important experience of becoming parents together. Garrett is still in ICU in critical condition. He had recently taken on a second job to help provider for sam and his daughter.  Due to his injuries it is unknown how long it will be before he returns to work or his normal life. This family can use all the prayers and help that they can at the moment. So far I have seen that they have a strong family and everyone is doing what they can. The driver who decided to drink and drive this day has changed many lives. And this is his third DUI charge.
