A few words from his co-workers at KMET:
“Quat” befriended and helped many rock and roll bands on their road to fortune and fame. Van Halen, Henry Paul Band, Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Toto, REO Speedwagon… and many- many more.
Rick Scarry, KMET
When Paraquat endorsed a new artist or band on the air they were immediately given a lift in their career. It meant an artist would fill a night club or concert hall and sell more albums. His enthusiastic endorsement would even generate more air play for a new record which would help immeasurably considering the enormous KMET audience and Pat's loyal following.
I worked with Pat Kelley on KMET through the mid 80's and I remember how much of an impact Pat and KMET had on breaking bands. I specifically remember Motley Crue getting a major boost from the exposure they got through Pat Kelley and KMET. I also remember Great White played a KMET party called St. Paraquat's Day at the Hollywood Palace. Suddenly Great White broke out nationally and became successful. These are just a few of the examples of the impact Pat Kelley had on music and bands in the 80's.
KMET 1983- 1987
I would be honored if you would decide to be part of this very special event for Pat!
