NOT "Crippled Inside"

My dear friends, Melody Rogers and her husband Patrick(Paraquat) Kelley need our help. Patrick was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2003. He has not been able to walk since 2006 and now needs help to even sit up. The disease has taken away his body but not his mind and spirits !!!! He is not "Crippled Inside" as the great John Lennon song goes. His medical and caregiving expenses are astronomical. He has a caretaker 5 days a week for 8 hours. He now needs full time care. Full time care can cost up to $7,000 to $10,000 a month. Melody(72) is working in the real estate business to support them and pay for all of his medical and caregiving expenses. She always has a smile on her face and never complains but it is clearly taking quite a toll on her. He is a vet but the VA has been of no assistance. She has done years of research tryng to find help from anywhere to no avail. Long term care insurance is the only insurance that will cover a caretaker. I would strongly advise that anyone 50 or over buy it especially since seeing what they are going through. They are in the process of getting their house of 31 years ready for sale to help pay for all of the medical and healthcare expenses not to mention just supporting the two of them. I know this is breaking their hearts, but Melody just can't keep it all up anymore. Melody is a great real estate agent and does very well but all of this is overwhelmng her. To work the hours you have to work as a good real estate agent and be a caretaker and in the process watch your husband suffer with such a debilitating disease is heavy duty. Again, you would never know what she is going through. She talks about how grateful she is for all of the good things in her life. Her clients love her and she does a great job for them. Melody and Pat are very special people and it would mean so much to me and them if you helped...any amout..no donation is too small. They have written a book about their journey. It is an e book on Amazon and has gotten wonderful reviews. They wrote it to help others in similar circumstances. It is funny (Pat has not lost his incredible sense of humor), inspiring, life affirming and brutally honest. SAVE THE DATE. I am so thrilled and excited that so many friends, fans and even strangers brought together by Rich Piombino and Kerry Gogan, who have done an amazing job, have come together to put on an incredible evening of music in honor of Pat ( Paraquat ) Kelley. It is The Mighty Met Acoustic Flashback on December 14th at The Canyon Club, Agoura Hills. 7 pm. For those of you who don't know, Pat was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in January of 2003. His attitude and spirits are absolutely amazing. However, he is unable to walk or even sit up by himself. He has been unable to work since about 2006.
A few of our performers so far:
George Thorogood...Bad To The Bone
Janiva Magness (#1 U.S. Blues Artistl 2015 Grammy Nominee).
Paul Barrerre (Little Feat).
Michael Ann Azoulai-current album produced by T-Bone Burnett's team.
Christina LaRocca-Los Angeles Based performer-tribute to 'Best Met Women Rockers'
Julian Shah-Tayler-David Bowie's Band Who Fell To Earth--recalling David's THREE sold-out Serious Moonlight shows @ Anaheim Stadium in 1983.
Riley Biederer---Rocket Music (Elton John Management).
Peter Stroud-Shery Crowe's bandleader-lead guitarist.
Kiki Ebsen,
Bill Champlain
Louise Goffin and Dan Navarro are also working thru their schedules in an effort to attend-perform. The headliners will be announced in the next 7 days.
We're sorting out specific performances, sets etc--in building a complete night of Mighty Met music. These folks are being kind enough to donate their time and talents--as we're tuning and crafting an amazing night of music.

A few words from his co-workers at KMET:
“Quat” befriended and helped many rock and roll bands on their road to fortune and fame. Van Halen, Henry Paul Band, Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Toto, REO Speedwagon… and many- many more.
Rick Scarry, KMET

When Paraquat endorsed a new artist or band on the air they were immediately given a lift in their career. It meant an artist would fill a night club or concert hall and sell more albums. His enthusiastic endorsement would even generate more air play for a new record which would help immeasurably considering the enormous KMET audience and Pat's loyal following.

Jeff Gonzer

I worked with Pat Kelley on KMET through the mid 80's and I remember how much of an impact Pat and KMET had on breaking bands. I specifically remember Motley Crue getting a major boost from the exposure they got through Pat Kelley and KMET. I also remember Great White played a KMET party called St. Paraquat's Day at the Hollywood Palace. Suddenly Great White broke out nationally and became successful. These are just a few of the examples of the impact Pat Kelley had on music and bands in the 80's.

I would be honored if you would decide to be part of this very special event for Pat!
More details to come soon!

Gratefully,
Jane
