Burn Victims w/Medical Bills & Work Loss

$6,290 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 95 people in 56 months
Mike (father) and Cody (son) Fuss were involved in a lawn mower accident on July 2nd which resulted in Mike receiving 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 50% of his body and his son receiving the same burns on 25% of his body.  They were both airlifted to Madison burn center.  Cody will be in the burn center for one month and Mike will be in for two months.  Mike will only receive 60% of his pay while out of work and Kari, his wife, will be taking some time off to be their for her family, not to mention deductibles, travel expenses and housing, since Madison is 2 hours away from their home.  Cash reserves are low and any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone!!!! Our family is so grateful for the many donations and support. We are still in need of further funds and therefore we are holding a benefit on October 11th. We will have our first meeting to plan the event this Sunday at 3PM at River Rail Bar in Shiocton. If any of you would like to assist with the planning of the benefit, we would appreciate your efforts. Thank you so much!

From Kari: Tomorrow Mike Fuss goes in for his second, and most likely his last skin graft. He is having the front of his neck, and a spot on his right hip/side done, and a small spot on his right foot. His spirits have been great the last couple of days. Those of you who had seen him in the early days of this mess, would not believe the difference. He looks and sounds like his old self.
Cody Fuss is also doing great. He's very motivated to get his strength and range of motion back. He said today that he wishes he could have therapy everyday. They tested his grip strength on his "bad" hand and it's still stronger than most men. They also tested his grip strength on his good hand, and it was double that. He is anxious to get back to driving, and when he is strong enough, back to work. He says he wouldn't be able to do it now, because he has to move around tires and other stuff that weigh more than him. If my hunch is correct, it won't take long. He did lose 15 lbs. of muscle while he was here. Those who know Cody knows he didn't have an ounce of fat on him to start with. The doctor explained that the body uses up muscle to heal, so I'm sure it will be frustrating for both Mike and Cody, to not be as strong. The good thing is, they can get it back.
That's all for now. Thanks all!

From Kari: Here is the latest. Mike Fuss got to get out of bed today for the first time since his skin graft last week. It was VERY painful, but he did it. They also took the splits off his hands, so he can use them again. Imagine being bed ridden for a week, AND not being able to use your hands! He was not happy. The doctor looked at his grafts, donor sites, and healing burned areas. He said Mike is a healing machine and he is VERY impressed. He's not ready to say for sure, but he thinks there is a good chance Mike won't need another surgery. That's a huge improvement. Initially, the dr was thinking 3-4 surgeries.
Cody Fuss is also doing very well. I'm fairly certain he will be discharged on Friday. He will still need therapy 3-5 times per week, so we'll be staying down here for a while yet.
I'm pretty sure they docs and nurses are calling me the crazy Plexus lady. But I don't give a darn. I have both my boys on the XFactor, Probio5, and Biocleanse, and they are both surpassing the everyones expectations. Coincidence? I think not! Maybe one day, the medical society will start to come around, and see how beneficial these products are, and not fight us so hard.

Today was the 1st day I've seen the grafted sites and the donor sights on Mike Fuss and Cody Fuss since their surgery on Tuesday. To be honest it is a little shocking. Just when I think I've seen it all, I get to see some more.
I'm thankful that they have started to sedate Cody for his dressing changes now. It was horrible to watch and listen to him suffer. If I knew from the beginning that all it would take is for him to start swinging during his wound care in order to get sedated, I would have told him to start swinging right away. Mike is a little jealous that Cody gets knocked out and he doesn't.
It is truly amazing what the human body can endure. My men are the bravest men you will ever have the privilege of knowing. They were both literally within a couple seconds of being gone from us.
One minute I was cleaning up the supper dishes, and the next, it was like we were caught in a terrifying movie........Explosion, fire, screaming, more explosion, more screaming, me and Klaudia feeling helpless. Ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, helicopter in my front yard. What the hell? Is this really happening? Yes, yes, it is.
But you know what? We are bigger, and we are stronger than all of this. We have all of you to hold us up when we need it. Thank you all for your support and kindness. We will never be able to pay this all forward, but we will try.
