Please help an entrepreneur with disability

Hi, my name is Javier, I am 35 years old and I was born with a spinal cord injury that has made me spend my whole life in a wheelchair.

My dream has always been to have an independent life and not let any barrier stop me.

However, in my daily life I encounter situations that make me feel different. Although it may seem silly, and if you have not lived a similar situation do not think about it, the mere fact of not being at the same height as others, and having to look up to talk to them, or that they always have to lower their gaze to address me, is something that makes you feel "different". Having to need someone's help because I need them to hold something I can't carry in my hands, while moving around with the chair, or to go up/down a slope too steep because of having worn out shoulder ligaments after more than 30 years of use, and mainly not being able to perform on my own the job for which I have studied (audiovisual production), makes that, despite my effort, I can't have an independent life. 

But this could be solved if I could get the chair (more information about it)  that would help me to overcome these ordinary limitations: it is controlled by the movement of my body, leaving my hands free, which would relieve my shoulders and allow me to work and move forward. It also has an extra value as it has an elevation system that would allow me to be at the same height as a standing person. This would be crucial for me to feel more integrated and reach objects that I am not able to reach from my chair.

As with many of the tools that allow people with disabilities to improve their quality of life, it has a high cost (20.000€). Therefore I need your help to acquire it, would you help me?

I will be very grateful for your collaboration. As small as it may seem to you, for me it is HUGE. Please, let disability not be a barrier between us, but a bridge that unites us.

Hola, mi nombre es Javier, tengo 35 años y nací con una lesión medular que ha hecho que esté en silla de ruedas toda mi vida.

Mi sueño siempre ha sido tener una vida independiente y no dejar que ninguna barrera me lo impida.

Sin embargo, en mi vida diaria encuentro situaciones que me hacen sentir diferente. Aunque parezca una tontería, y si no has vivido una situación similar no te lo plantees, el mero hecho de no estar a la misma altura que los demás, y tener que mirar hacia arriba para hablar con ellos, o que siempre tengan que bajar la mirada para dirigirse a mí, es algo que hace sentir “diferente”. Tener necesidad de la ayuda de alguien porque necesito que me sujete algo que no puedo llevar en las manos, mientras me desplazo con la silla, o para subir/bajar una cuesta demasiado acusada por tener los ligamentos de los hombros desgastados tras más de 30 años de uso, y principalmente el no poder realizar por mi propia cuenta el trabajo para el que he estudiado (producción audiovisual), hace que, a pesar de mi esfuerzo, no pueda tener una vida independiente. 

La realidad es que esto podría solucionarse de conseguir la silla (más información sobre ella)  que me ayudaría a eliminar estas limitaciones ordinarias: se controla con el movimiento del cuerpo, dejando mis manos libres, lo que aliviaría mucho mis hombros y me permitiría trabajar y avanzar. Además tiene un valor añadido y único ya que dispone de un sistema de elevación con el que estaría a la misma altura que una persona de pie. Esto sería crucial para sentirme más integrado y poder llegar a objetos que desde mi silla no soy capaz de alcanzar.

Como pasa con muchas de las herramientas que permiten a las personas con discapacidad mejorar su calidad de vida, tiene un coste elevado (20.000€). Por ello necesito tu ayuda para poder adquirirla, ¿me ayudarías?
