You've never wanted to see wrestling like this! Artists doing live painting so extreme, it might make you wretch!
The AWL Kids Academy wants you! Join Thomas Refferson for classes in the AWL studio - make your costume, create your persona, and make wrestling themed art! Your training will qualify you for participation in the first ever kids-only event during the Columbus Arts Festival and the Kids Championship during the Independents Day Festival where you can compete for the belt!
Our art wrestlers, many of whom are professional artists and art educators, are helping kids experiment with many different mediums to express themselves through art. The young wrestlers learn how to improve their artistic skills as well as create costumes, and props to enhance their persona.
We also have a professional performance artist who is presenting a series of workshops to help the wrestler have an authentic presence on the stage and in the ring. She helps the wrestlers bring their visual art to life by sharing an amplification of themselves with their audience. This series is also an opportunity to build life skills such as confidence and leadership.
We are appealing to you, our fans, to help fund this exciting interactive project. Your donations would be used to help pay for the space where classes are held, art supplies, and materials for both costumes and props.
Our inaugural kids' event will be held during the Columbus Arts Fest in June and the Kids Championship will take place in September during the Independents Day Festival. Your support will enable us to continue to enrich the lives of local kids through art wrestling.*
