Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this. I would like you to meet our 4 month old niece, Emma Makayla Wampler. From the moment her momma went into labor, she was a fighter. Emma was determined to be in the world with us and it only took her 2 hours to show up- “fast and furious”!!
Unfortunately, her natural strength and fierceness wasn’t enough (thanks Satan’s system..) and she began to lose weight. No matter how much she nursed or guzzled formula, she would only gain a few ounces here and there. So doctors diagnosed her with “failure to thrive” and recommended putting a feeding tube through her nose. Through that tube she has been receiving liquid food and nutrition directly into her stomach (along with breast feeding). With that type of tube feeding there have come many complications.. the tube needs to be switched out regularly and it has countless times been accidentally pulled up and out of her stomach by her pulling at it- which means many many evenings in the ER.
However, it’s still not enough and this “failure to thrive” has now resulted in the stunting of her growth and development. So it has been recommended that a G Tube be surgically put into her belly, where she will continue to receive nutrition, without the complications of the nose tube. The surgery will happen on this Friday morning, 12/22. This is a short simple surgery but she will be fed through the G Tube for about a year, then if all is well and she begins to thrive, it will need to be surgically removed.
In addition to this, she will also likely need an eye surgery to correct weak muscles that affect her focus and sight control. This will happen sometime in January of next year.
So while this girl is a tough one, she and her family need our help. All of this will result in medical expenses from the surgeries, following hospital stays during recovery, follow up doctor visits and tests, feeding machine rentals, feeding supplies and loss of work. All of that will add up very quickly. So any little bit will help. And of course Emma, her Daddy (Keoki), her Momma (Jasmine), and her big brother (Ryder) would greatly benefit from your many many heartfelt prayers and thoughts for this sweet little girl. (James 5:15) It’ll be a long battle, but we know with Jehovah’s strength and support of their loved ones, Emma will grow to be a beautiful, THRIVING woman and eventually reach perfection on a paradise earth, where all of her struggles will be a thing of the past. (Revelation 21:3,4 and Isaiah 33:24)
