Jessica, FND Sufferer - Equipment Fund

Donation protected
We have set up this fundraising page to help raise money for much needed equipment that will vastly improve my quality of life. We are currently aiming to raise enough money to purchase a specilist double bed that will allow me to share a bed with my partner again but still have the safety and care facilities I need. It will also ensure my care needs throughout the night are met, such as support during seizures. Unfortunately these beds are not provided by the NHS, only single ones are, and so that is why we are having to fundraise to get one. You can see the specs of the exact bed (Solace 502) that we are fundraising for here: http://actionassist.co.uk/adjustable-beds/twin-profiling-beds. We obtained a quote from this company who very kindly have said they will waiver the delivery and installation charge to help us out, so the total of £4,770 is what we need to raise to be able to purchase the bed. We are currently looking into other models and options to find the cheapest we can but this is the best we have found so far.

We are also potentially going to have to fund a new wheelchair for me as the NHS are refusing to provide one. We are currently appealing the decision and are fighting for a chair that is more suitable for me than my current one. However if we don't win we will have to privately buy one. We had great support fundraising for my current wheelchair and it only took a few months which was incredible. Unfortunately my condition has deteriorated and my symptoms have changed meaning I need a wheelchair that is more suited to my current needs. It makes me so sad that I (and other disbaled individuals) have to fight for basic equipment that will help improve our quality of life and independance. Once we have raised the funds we will be able to sell the current chair and use that money towards the new one.

I have a page on Facebook that I use to raise awareness about my conditions (Functional Neurological Disorder and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) www.facebook.com/JessicaSherwoodFndSufferer. We wanted to raise the money for this ourselves by selling handmade items such as sock monkeys, hair accessories etc via my facebook page, from which all the proceeds will be going into this equipment fund. Then, several of my supporters mentioned wanting to make a donation instead of purchasing an item, and so this is why we have set up this page. There is absolutely no pressure to donate, your support alone helps us to keep fighting. This will make a huge difference to my life, and my partners, and we will be eternally grateful for everything.

If you would like to leave your mailing address with your donation, we'd love to be able to send you a little thank you note.

Thank you to everyone for your support.
