On the 6th of August, whilst on a holiday, the Roe family went on a Jeep Safari Tour run by Focus Tourism. The trip turned into disaster when the jeep they were in, rolled a number of times due to careless driving. Perry Roe, died at the scene of the crash.
The documentary will follow Siôn meeting his family around England and Wales. Siôn will engage in conversation with his Aunty and Uncle, Grandparents, Mother and Sister, providing different insights as to how the crash affected them. Siôn will ask them about the days after the event, specifically focusing on trying to find out what really happened and what he was never told.
This GoFundMe is for the first part of this documentary. Part 1 will involve travelling around the UK to visit members of my family who were involved in the crash and its aftermath. With the crew kindly giving up their time, I want to ensure that their travel, accommodation and food is covered. We will also be making sure that we rent equipment to bring this documentary to a professional standard.
The reason in which I am delving into this topic is because I feel a lack of emotion. Ever since the crash, I have developed a strong ability to bury the past. As I've grown older, the need to be more expressive and open with people has grown stronger, to the point where I feel the need to open up about this topic.
If one person walks away from watching this documentary feeling that they too could open up and find some sort of progression from discussing their experiences, this would all be worth it.
UPDATE
With our target in sight, I wanted to provide an insight as to where we will be progressing next.
If we go past our goal, the additional money will enable us to submit the documentary into festivals and additionally, progress into phase two of the film.
Phase Two
In phase two, the documentary will go back to Turkey. Along with the crew from the UK part, I want to re visit the site of the crash and interview the doctor that operated on us, as well as the local tourism guide. I feel a huge need to re visit the site of the accident and start putting the pieces together. With your help, we can make this happen.
