Audi's Surgery Fund

Donation protected
**EDIT** January 4, 2017

We have far exceeded our goal and no longer need donations!

Audi's surgery was yesterday and was successful. She is home, resting now.

When we picked her up from the vet last night, we were informed that the entire bill from her surgery was paid by an wonderful, generous, anonmyous individual!  We are overwhelmed with shock and gratitiude. This is the most incredible gift that we will ever receive.

As a result of this, we've exceeded our original campaign goal of $2500 by $2,000. We will only need to keep a portion to help with previous bills and plan to pay forward the rest to other animals in need unless  those who donate express a different wish. Thank you for all the support. This is proof of good in the world!

At the beginning of December, Audi started to limp. We brought her to the vet and after a series of X-rays, the doctor told us she has a completely torn ligament in her right knee (CCL) and a partial tear in the left. She also has arthritis in both knees as well as her lower spine. The doctor gave us pain meds and a sling to help make her more comfortable in the meantime, but she desperately needs surgery to correct both of her knees so she's not in constant pain. She's started walking around on only three legs and it breaks my heart!

We are not the type of people to take the decision to ask for help lightly. Audi has been a special needs kind of dog since the day we brought her home, but that has only made us love her more. We have done everything we can to improve her life, her health and her issues.

As many people know, rescue animals don't come without their baggage. Audi came to us as a severely underweight, shy and fearful girl with a mouthful of broken teeth. We got her the medical attention she needed (she's now six teeth short of a full mouth!) and a trainer to help with her behavioral and fear based issues (separation anxiety and dog reactivity). We have  poured our time, our money and ourselves into this sweet girl -- into her training, improvement and happiness, so much so that we would do anything for her. She is our family. She's my best friend and my heart and soul. One of the loves of my life, which is why we can't watch her suffer.

In a normal circumstance, we would not need to ask for help and honestly aren't the kind of people who are accustomed to doing so, but among other things, we recently ran into a major homeowner hiccup (our HVAC system needed to be replaced), and we are not in a good place financially. We would be drowning in debt without this help.

Your help would mean the world to our family!

(as a sidenote: please see our update with the treatment plan and bills so far from our vet in an attempt to be transparent. )
