Connor's Service Dog Fund

We'd like to introduce you to Erin, her husband, Tim, and sons, Jack, Sean and Connor:

Connor has refractory (uncontrolled, drug resistant) epilepsy and has almost daily seizures.

We cannot put into our own words the challenges and roller coaster that Connor and the entire family endure with this disorder, so we are sharing one of Erin’s Facebook posts from February (unfortunately, time has not eased the strain and impact that Epilepsy has had on their family):

“State of the Union:
For six long months, Connor endured seizure after seizure. We loaded him up on meds, some of which did nothing but put him to sleep. We stayed awake watching him sleep, praying that he wouldn’t seize when we were not watching. We saw the doctors, and cried on the phone to the nurses and teachers; frustrated and distressed by the emotional toll this disorder has brought upon our family. We have now gone 34 days without a tonic clonic seizure. While this may seem like a win, it is complicated. Our child has become a shell of his former self. There has been no laughing, no joy, no hugging or love. He is depressed, angry and aggressive. He holds his head like he is in pain, and sometimes head butts objects … as if attempting to remove that pain. He sleepwalks, has night terrors and sleeps excessively throughout the day.

Epilepsy is a complicated beast. There is no perfect solution for all, and you have to go through a lot of trial and error to figure out what might work. Once that “perfect mix” works, you then have to pray it continues for as long as possible. We know there will be more seizures in our future, but we are ready to keep fighting the good fight. So many wonderful people who have helped us over the last few months. Please know that your kind words, the meals and bottles of wine have been appreciated! I may have missed some emails or texts along the way, and I am sorry if you didn’t get a response! Our current mental/emotional state can be best described as “numb.” Every day feels like Groundhog day, but I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for your love and support!  We hope to post a picture of our smiling boy again soon.”

THE GOOD NEWS:

Erin’s family has identified an amazing service dog that is currently being trained to assist Connor physically and emotionally – and could ultimately prove to be a literal life saver!

HOW CAN WE HELP???

Locating and training a service dog is VERY expensive.  We’ve set up this page to help the family bring their dog home!

Please, if you can, consider contributing to this very worthy cause.  Of course, contributions are completely voluntary and any amount is much appreciated!!!
