**HELP EXPAND THE CENTRE AND CARE FOR THE TURTLES**
Atoll Marine Centre is a turtle rehabilitation centre. We receive turtles that have either been kept illegally by local people as pets or ones that have been found sick and injured in the wild. Locals take hatchlings and keep them as pets often in cramped, poor conditions. We rehabilitate these turtles and release them when they are bigger and strong enough to cope in the wild. Discarded fishing nets in the ocean are a huge threat to marine life. We rescue turtles that are entangled in this ghost net. Treating their wounds and releasing them when they have fully recovered. Atoll Marine Centre has now been open for 5 years, in December 2016 we received our first adult Olive Ridley turtle, since then we received another 12 in just 8 months and continue to get regular calls of more injured Olive Ridleys. These have all needed medical attention, suffering from lacerations from the nets, shell damage, or buoyancy syndrome.
The money you donate will go to maintaining and improving the care we can provide to our turtles. We will be able to buy turtle medicine for wound treatment, vitamins, essential medical equipment, satellite tags so we can monitor our juvenile turtles once released and even bigger tanks and sea cages so our turtles can have more space.
