A HEART FOR ALFRED

Our Family’s Patriarch, Alfred Reynolds Jr, my beloved husband, is in need of a mechanical heart pump known as an LVAD or Left Ventricular Assist Device. The pump attaches to hoses connected to valves in the left side of his heart. A power cord protrudes from his abdomen. Attached to it are two large batteries and a controller device.

Alfred’s heart journey began in 2009 with severe left ventricular dysfunction. His heart was only working at  10%. He had a pacemaker placed with multiple hospitalizations since. Despite the wonderful care thus far, the left Ventricle is only working at 3%. This LVAD is our only chance at a life-prolonging device to make it to the ultimate lifesaving procedure of a transplant.

Tampa General Hospital has informed us they WON’T put his case in front of the medical board unless we have proof of at least half of the $23,000 to help pay for bills, hotel stays in Tampa, medicines, and gas for the 2.5-hour drive back and forth for multiple appointments. I am solely responsible to care for him 24/7 for the first four months, which is critical to his recovery.

Alfred is a father of 3 Alfred III( wife- Samantha Beecher-Reynolds), Antwan, and Brianna, a grandfather to 4, a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist  Church. He is the rock and leader to our family and has a shot at living if his medical needs can be performed. As I stated, the patriarch to the entire family and is desperately needed in our lives. He would give the shirt off his back and the last dollar we have to help someone in need. It pains me to set aside my pride and ask for your help, but I must, because this wonderful man deserves to live and continue spreading his love and generosity to the community.
