Hello my name is Ashley Tolliver from Houston Tx. I am a Agriculture Major with a Concentration in Animal Science at Prairie View A&M University. I am very active in many organizations within the University while also maintaining my studies, I have been recognized on the University Dean’s Honor Roll from the years 2015-2018.
Ever since I could remember it has always been a dream and passion of mine to open my own wildlife sanctuary to protect and care for exotic animals who are injured, being mistreated, and on the verge of extinction. A year ago I was introduced to a program that will allow me to get one step closer to my dream, The College Veterinary Service Program Loop Abroad: South Africa. It’s a two week program (June 2 - June 18, 2018) that gives you the opportunity to get hands on experience/research at a cheetah conservation and breeding facility in the African Savanna while also learning the Anatomy, Behavior, and Conservation of Big Cats taught by a DVM at the conservation. This program will not only be beneficial when applying to veterinarian school, as far as gaining 80 service hours and having experienced this Veterinary service on my resume when seeking future jobs or internships but it will also benefit me down the line because I will be getting the opportunity to see all the hard work and dedication it takes to run this type of facility and the daily care for these animals.
All donations will go strictly to this trip and will be split between my tuition, round trip, deposit, and any medical expenses I may need for this journey. Any amount is greatly appreciated I thank you all so much for believing in me and helping me get one step closer to turning my dream into a reality.
