Ashley's Walk For Dad's Freedom
In 1988, Leo Schofield was wrongfully convicted of murdering his wife. He has been imprisoned since.
In August 2016, a written confession with matching fingerprints to the crime scene was received from the actual perpetrator.
The state attorney has the power to expedite the hearing and Leo's exoneration for a crime that he has been wrongly imprisoned for almost 30 years for. A hearing is not scheduled until October 2017!
Ashley, Leo's daughter, is tired of waiting for her dad to come home. She has decided to take action to try and get the state attorney to move up the hearing!
Beginning on May 14, Ashley will start walking from Fort Myers to the State Attorney office in Bartow, Florida, bringing with her a petition signed by those she knows and encounters on her journey to encourage them to move up Leo's hearing!
The walk is 182 miles and will take her about 2 weeks.
This is not a journey she can complete without help! I started this gofundme to help Ashley raise money for capital expenses she will encounter on her journey.
Money for food and lodging as well as extra shoes, weather gear and clothing are needed to help her with this journey.
Thank you for your support and for sharing this campaign wherever you can. Let's bring Leo home!

Ashley can't walk this journey due to the ankle injury. However, she does intend to continue to fight to get her daddy home, so that she/ he will no longer be deprived of justice. She wants to go to different places (churches, etc.) to share her testimony and to tell her story of the experience of having her dad in prison for a crime he is actually innocent of, and her fight for his release. She is requesting invitations. No matter where, she will get there (but probably not by walking! ) The plan for her journey has changed, and the financial needs have changed. All money gathered by this gofundme will absolutely 100% be used to support Ashley's fight. However, money donated thus far can be... will be .... returned without any hesitation, or will be reserved for the costs of plan B. Your generosity has provided much encouragement, and is greatly appreciated.
Ashley was able to buy a nice pair of walking shoes - with great arch support, gel cushions. They fit great. And, they were on sale !! Thank you everyone.
Thank you guys so much. It means a lot!
