Lyriq (Ashley) had just dropped off her friend at their home after a night out. That's the type of person she is...always willing to lend a hand to the people she cares about. Little did she know that she would be fighting for her life shortly after. As she went into her trunk to grab something, a car came barreling down the road and hit her parked car head on.
The impact was enough to knock Lyriq's car out of gear. Her body was trampled as her own car ran her over and dragged her several yards down the street. Great volumes of blood was spilled at the scene due to a laserated liver.
Some of her injuries include: Liver damage, a broken arm, a broken wrist, a broken knee and severe road rash from being dragged by her car. Her more challenging injuries are a fractured C4 and C5 vertebrate that has rendered her unable to move her legs, hands, arms or feet.
Her doctor's have said that her best chance for a normal life is to get acepted into the Shepherd's Spinal Clinic here in Atlanta. Today (8/16/17) we found out that she will be transferring there tomorrow! We are so thankful for this victory!
So far, her medical bills have reached $1.3 million dollars. The additional costs for Shepherd's Spinal Clinic is estimated to be another $1 million dollars. The driver of the car has been identified, but has been found to be uninsured.
Lyriq is a childhood friend who was born only two days before me. Her mother Goldie, is an amazing single mother who has been a faithful friend to my family. The last thing I want them worrying about is money.
