Ashley’s Story

My name is Amber Grebmeier and I am Ashley Noe's sister.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

As many of you know Ashley was admitted to the hospital several weeks ago. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve and she is currently in an inpatient hospice facility.

We thank all of you for your visits and time you have taken to visit and comfort the family at this time we are limiting visits to keep Ashley comfortable and resting.

Ashley has such an incredible spirit and she loves all of you and is so thankful for the ways you have cared for her, for Peter and Stella and Emily.

We will update this site as we progress. We thank you for all of your prayers, encouragement, help, and love through this time in our lives.

Many of you have asked how you can contribute. We have set up a GoFundMe page to help during this transition time.

These funds will assist with things like hospital bills, healthy meal service, college funds for the girls, and other things like a family trip, and ballet school. If you would like your contribution to a specific area, please let us know.

Thank you for your continued love and support during this challenging time. The Noe Family

It's extremely difficult, in times of immense grief, to believe that this pain will not actually take you as well. Yet, it's been 25 hours since we lost Ashley and we're all, somehow, still breathing.

We apologize that so many of you will first receive this news online and not face to face. Please know we wish we could sit each of you down and let you know individually. We pray that we will have the gift of time to share stories and special memories with all of you soon.
Ashley left this earth at 4:30 am yesterday October 6, 2017. Peter, our mom and I were all by her side. We are all grateful to inform you; she passed peacefully and beautifully with a smile on her lips. Ashley has always been such graceful spirit, so it was comforting to watch her take her last breaths with grace and peace.

Please keep Peter, Stella, and Emily in your prayers as they begin and find their "new normal." We want to thank Hospice of the East Bay for their love, support, care, and kindness. They are all, truly, heaven sent. Also, thank you for all of your friendship, love, prayers, meals, photos and so very much more that I can't even think of at this time. We have felt amazingly taken care of this past month.

A service is being planned for the coming weeks, and we will let you all know as soon as possible of our plans.

Instead of flowers, please donate to the Ashley Noe family

I'm finding it difficult at this time to write updates in paragraph form so I think I'll stick to my outline format. I'm glad to know so many of you are feeling fed by the tender mercies we are sharing with all of you. God has blessed us with so many special moments while we have been here and we are all grateful and know we have been blessed.

• This morning Ashley's day began with the arrival of our Auntie Ilene, our mother's identical twin sister, from Salt Lake City. We are grateful for the special time she has had to spend with Ash. We are also grateful for the support she gives to our mother just by being close.

• Ashley's special friend Lauren arrived today from Los Angeles. Ashley and Lauren met while attending school abroad at Cambridge University in England. They traveled to so many beautiful places together, while in Europe. It was heart warming to see Ashley light up when she arrived and wonderful to see her be able to communicate just a little about their times together.

•one special thing that I've realized in my time here is that I find myself repeating the label "best friend" over and over when introducing people here. "This is Ashley's best friend from here, this is Ashley's best friend from there" I realize that Ashley has numerous "best friends" from different times and places in her life. I too consider many of my friends my "best friends" it warms my heart to realize she has loved and has been loved well by her "best friends".

•This evening Ashley was wanting to spend some time outside. The hospice home has a lovely garden we all enjoy spending lots of time in. Tonight we found a small corner of the side yard with a bench and a rose covered arbor. I brought Ash out to where she would have a beautiful view of the gorgeous pink clouds in the sky and where she enjoy the Italian cypress, oak trees, California redwoods and a Japanese maple just starting to change from green to red. I turned on one of our very favorite pandora stations, sous le ciel de Paris. We sat there as pink wispy clouds made way to a completely pink sky. The trees looked like a painting against the pink sky. Such a precious set of moments listening to French music and enjoying some of God's most beautiful creations with my sweet sister.

•I love watching Ashley reach out for hugs and smile when Peter's family comes into the room each day. I love that she has had "in laws" that are more "in love" than "in law". I am grateful that they are always here loving her. They have all experienced a family that is something so very special.
