Carla's Mobility Scooter Fundraiser!
The time has come in my life when I've realized I need a mobility scooter. In the past few years, my health has not been good. Very slowly, among other things, my feet, legs, and back are in more and more pain.
I need a scooter to help me to continue to get around. I have considered the option of getting it approved under a government program but it turns out that I do not qualify as their rules are very strict and the process is a minimum of one year before a scooter is delivered. Having a scooter will give me a certain independence that I've never had because I've never been able to get a car and I've always had to depend on others to go places or do errands such as grocery shopping.
I went scooter shopping (online and in town). It turns out the prices are much higher than I expected to get one that would fill my needs. I was advised by a few professionals in the field that one that I had picked out that I thought was a manageable price was in fact not an actual mobility scooter. It was an e-bike made in China and they assured me over and over that this purchase would be a mistake as they tend to break down a lot and parts are difficult to get and are expensive.
I have considered a reconditioned or refurbished one but the warranties that cover such models are very short in the time frame and in what they cover. I'm not comfortable with that. I don't want to end up with someone else's headaches that would end up costing me more in the long run.
I have ordered a scooter which will be delivered to me (with training) on May 5th, 2017. One of my friends has helped me out by allowing me to put the cost on their low-interest credit card that they don't use. However, once the scooter is delivered I will have to start making payments, and I need help with that.
Me and my dog, Maggie, would be eternally grateful if you would consider making a contribution to my scooter needs. Any amount is a help.
