Our elementary school art room needs supplies!
Do you remember any artistic experiences from your childhood? Maybe you recall finger painting at an easel, squeezing clay between your fingers, or gluing collage materials onto a sheet of colorful paper. There's a chance that your memory happened at your elementary school, in an art classroom. These art experiences are things we'd love to make a reality for the students at our school— but we need supplies! Supporting this project will enable our art teacher to purchase construction paper, markers, crayons, pastels, modeling clay, scissors, glue, collage materials and so much more!
About our School:
Our school is a public elementary school located in Washington, DC. We serve 375 students in pre-kindergarten 3 (three year-olds) through 5th grade. We are a Title 1 school, where 100% of students are considered "economically disadvantaged." 99% of our students come from a minority background— 88% of our students are Black, and 11% are Hispanic/Latino. Our school vision is to develop well-rounded, confident students who have the necessary academic and social skills to be productive citizens in a global society.
Partnering with Circle Yoga Cooperative:
Want to make your donation in person and enjoy an afternoon of yoga? Circle Yoga is a welcoming, local cooperative yoga studio located in Washington, DC near Chevy Chase Circle that offers yoga, meditation, and other practices rooted in mindfulness to help students feel better inside and out. Circle Yoga will be hosting a donations-based, all-levels yoga class on Saturday, February 2 from 5 to 6:30 PM with yoga teacher Krista Mason. Krista will be teaching a fun, energizing, and relaxing adult yoga class for all levels, including beginners. Check out Circle Yoga's website for more information at www.circleyoga.com.
