Help St. Sebs Bring Cameras to Students with Disabilities

Hello, we are the St. Sebastian’s School AP Photo Class. We would love the opportunity to be able to teach what we have learned in our photography class to children with disabilities at the Cotting School, the first day school in the United States to serve students with disabilities.

Our class is looking to raise money for a photography workshop we will be conducting at the Cotting School. We have set a goal of $1,500  that we need to raise for cameras and adaptive equipment. The money we raise will go towards purchasing cameras and adaptive photography equipment that will allow each child, regardless of their physical disability, to take pictures.  We will be working with the children with a broad spectrum of learning and communication disabilities, physical challenges, and complex medical conditions.

In a 4-6 week workshop we will work with the students on setting up camera systems, teaching the basics of photography, helping students take pictures, downloading and editing photographs, and ultimately working towards a presentation of the students' work at the end of the workshop.  If successful, the project will not only build confidence in the new photographers, but will stand as an example of the ability of art to heal, to inspire, and to prove to all of us that no matter what our ability levels or differences are, we have more in common than we realize.

Thank you for your contributions and God bless!
