The Tanque Verde Soccer Club Boys 2003 team recently won their second, consecutive Arizona State Championship. It is usually quite difficult for Pima County teams to beat the big Phoenix clubs, but through hard work and a great team effort, they have done so.
TVSC 2003 Boys will now represent the State of Arizona in the Farwest Regional Championships between June 18 and June 24. They will compete against the champions of California, Washington, Colorado, Utah and 10 other western states. The winner will advance to play the other three regional winners for a national championship.
There is a big problem. This year, the Farwest Regional Championships are being played in Hawaii. Normally, teams can bus or drive to the Farwest Regional Championships, but now each player needs an expensive ticket to fly. Lodging and food is also expensive in Hawaii. There are real problems getting the kids to the tournament.
This is a great opportunity for the boys. They have placed themselves in a position to be seen by college scouts. They also have worked all year to win the state championship. They will do a great job representing, Arizona and Pima County.
The TVSC team won the Arizona State Championship in May. The boys started fundraising while they were finishing school and still practicing. School is over and they are doing more fundraising and practicing. They have done car washes, sold water and food at parks, and asked for donations at businesses. The parents have been actively helping as well. As of June 2, 2018, the team has raised $11000. Based on past experience and the Hawaii factor, the team needs $36000. This total is actually based on the lowest budget possible per player that any team could put together. Any parents who attend, will pay for themselves.
The team is mindful that wages are relatively low in Pima County and that people have tight budgets. The team does not want to impact anyone's financial situation and is asking for $20 donations in the hopes of getting enough of them to significantly assist.
Obviously, if anyone can donate more, it would be appreciated, but the team is really hoping mainly that people who see this Go Fund Me will take a few minutes and donate $20. The team is also continuing with its fundraising. It is also having to consider various loan options.
