Arielle's Fight is a fund to help raise money for Arielle's Total Pancreatectomy with an Auto Islet Cell Transplant. Arielle started suffering from pancreatitis almost four years ago right before she received the news she was expecting her first child. After many hospital stays and numerous complications over those next eight months, she learned she is a carrier of the cystic fibrosis gene which caused the pancreatitis.
As a single mother at 24 years old, Ariele has more than one battle to fight. She has given up many days of being a "normal" mother, daughter and friend due to her illness. Arielle is a strong, charismatic and caring individual; always trying to find humor and staying positive despite her hopeless disease.
Until there is a cure, she is deemed totally disabled and unable to finish college or seek employment. She resides with her family and the nearest hospital is an hour away, where she is treated for the effects of pancreatitis the stays can vary from 1 day to a whole week.
With no hospital in Michigan being able to help, she has had to travel to hospitals out of state and is a candidate for a Total Pancreatectomy with an Auto Islet Cell Transplant. This necessary procedure has been done successfully for quite a few years but is still considered experimental and is very expensive.
She will be traveling to the University of Minnesota for medical treatment and the donations will not only help with the potential $60,000 deposit if she can not get approved for a secondary insurance, but also her travel expenses back and forth between Michigan and Minnesota during winter of 2015.
Any donations big or small are greatly appreciated and any surplus of funds will be donated to the U of MN-CP- AIP assistance to help other individuals with the same condition.
