Ariana Drewberry's Medical Bills

Who is Ariana Dewberry?
Ariana is a sophomore at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX and has maintained all A’s and B’s since enrollment. At the young age of only 19 years old, Ari nor her family would’ve never imagined her not being able to physically walk alone, to experience uncontrollable vomiting, be unable to go to restroom alone, be unable to bath on her own, and definitely never would’ve imagined Ari losing her vision! While preparing to end another successful year of college, Ariana’s life drastically changed without warning and still to this day, doctors are testing to find the exact cause and a for sure diagnoses. She had repeatedly been to the university's clinic were she was diagnosed with strep throat and given antibiotics, without adequately treating her symptoms. On Monday, December 10th, what’s normally one of the happiest days of her life, was actually one of her saddest. It was her 20th birthday and spent in the hospital, still with her mind wondering “why me”? There have been multiple CT scans, MRI’s, blood panels, IV’s, X-rays, medications given etc… but no definite diagnoses due to some symptoms of one disease not being the symptoms of the another. During part of her hospital stay, the neurologist felt the diagnoses was NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica) from clinical studying, but now she’s been diagnosed with MFS (Miller Fisher Syndrome) which is a type of GBS (Guilain-Barre Syndrome).

Ariana’s has life changed. Each day she continued to get worse, but hospitals kept saying muscle pain! Thanks to her mother never giving up and not accepting of “just muscle pain”, she kept trying until her child was admitted for proper testing!

We decided to share the story of our friend because there may be someone else who’s experienced the same and may be willing to share their story with this family.  There also may be medical professionals reading this and maybe you can share your thoughts as well.  Ariana’s mother, LaShundra, has not left her daughter’s side since the beginning of this life changing moment in their lives.  Although her job is protected by FMLA, this medical leave is without pay. While we do not know the why nor the how this happened, we do know that with faith all things as possible for those who believe!………and we do believe Ariana Dewberry will WALK independently again, SEE again, and be INDEPENDENTLY ABLE to continue living life and will enjoy all that life has to offer!

Thank you all for taking the time to read and share Ariana’s story! Your prayers, similar stories, and financial assistance for this family’s current and long road ahead is greatly appreciated!
