Nate's Medical Nightmare

Donation protected
Nate was born on February 4th, 2015...
He was born with a cleft palate which was later linked to his diagnosis of Pierre Robin Sequence. Recently he was admitted to hospital because of a convulsive seizure. After 2 weeks he was diagnosed with Hyperinsulinism, which means his pancreas over produces insulin resulting in on going hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). After a total of 7 weeks in hospital he was allowed home again.
Our life now consists of 2 hourly blood glucose testing, Nate's little fingers and toes are constantly bruised and sore but still he smiles his gorgeous smile. Unfortunately even with medications Nate still experiences hypoglycemic episodes and is still at risk of seizures and ultimately brain damage.
Funds raised are for the purchase of a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). A CGM displays an ongoing reading of his blood sugar, it also alarms prior to a hypoglycemic event allowing treatment to be given immediately. The CGM requires a sensor that is placed under the skin to be changed weekly at further cost.

Many thanks for your help,

a worried mum.
