WHS Class of 2008 John Barnas Fund

$3,846 of $3,600 goal

Raised by 83 people in 48 months
Hey everyone, we are looking to put together a little fund for the family of our beloved classmate John Barnas who passed away this past week. Instead of donating flowers we thought it would be better if we started a small fund for the family to cover expenses . If anyone is interested please donate.

Thank you,
Class of 2008 Senior Class Cabinet

A message from Patty Barnas,

Yesterday, I wrote to the CEO of Keurig about donating 21 Keurig's for the Stem Cell Transplant Unit at HUMC. Below is his response. How great is this!! I just need to work out the details with Keurig and the Stem Cell Unit (8PE). Recliners and coffee....we're on a roll

Patty:

Thank you for your note. I am very sorry to learn of your losing two loved ones in such a short period of time. Words cannot adequately convey my sympathies in the face of so profound a loss.

I would be honored to have our company donate brewers to the 21 rooms on the transplant wing. I cannot think of a better way for us to thank them for the care they provided your family.

You have a big heart and an amazing spirit to be so giving at such a difficult time. You are a wonderful example to us all. Thank you!

Cindy will arrange for the brewers to be sent to the Hackensack University Hospital Transplant Wing. It would only be fitting for you to be the one to present the brewers to them. So, Cindy will arrange to have you informed of the timing.

Please stop by and say hello to me when you are next in Boston or when I am in NY. I would like that. Also, please let me know if there is anything we can do to help you get through this difficult period.
With Deepest Respect,
Brian

When John Barnas passed away, his high school class officers got together and started a fundraiser thru a site called "Go Fund Me." They raised $3,471.62.

John hated the chairs in the waiting room. He always said they were uncomfortable and wanted recliners. I contacted the Cancer Center and told them I wanted to use this money to purchase recliners in John's memory. I finally got approval for the chairs and I'm sending them a check today. I'm not sure how many chairs can be purchased yet but asked for an update once the fabric is picked out.

Thank you Simon Popek , Paulina Banasiak and whoever else helped organize this. Please be sure to tag those people. Please also put a note on that website if still possible advising everyone what was done with the money and pass along our thank you.

I know John would be so happy to see these chairs, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play some jokes on everyone who sit in them .

Hello everyone. I would like to thank you all once again for your generous donations for our great friend John Barnas. It is remarkable how much money we raised so quick and I am very gratefully to you all. I know Patty and Kevin are going to be very appreciative. Today will be the final day of the fund and at midnight we will be shutting it down.

Wow!! This is amazing I cannot believe we all raised so much money in just one day. This really means a lot and will be an awesome gift to John’s mother Patty and his brother Kevin. Thank you so much to all who donated to this great cause and a special thank you to Paulina Banasiak cause if it wasn’t for her phone call this morning none of this would have happened. Once again Thank You Everyone!!!
