Just over a year ago, our dear friend Ernesto Tamayo was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Ernesto recuperated quite well from the surgery and the treatment that followed, and carried on with his normal life for several months. Unfortunately, about four weeks ago, Ernesto’s condition deteriorated and he returned to the hospital. He is in the Tate Hospice House, 817 South Camp Meade Rd, Linthicum, Maryland, and can die at any moment. Ernesto has no family in the United States. In recent weeks, many friends have visited and accompanied him. We have also made arrangements for his parents to come from Cuba to be with him during his last days. We have created this fund to cover the cost of their trip, their stay in the United States, and the funeral expenses. They need our support in this difficult time. Thank you in advance for any donation you can make to this fund!
Today is the second anniversary of Ernesto’s death. We’ll always remember him. A hug for everyone.
Dear friends, Ernesto Tamayo passed away yesterday afternoon. Thanks for your prayers and support. Let's remember Ernesto just like he was: a great human being and an extraordinary musician. A hug for everyone.
Dear friends: Some people have asked me where they can buy Ernesto Tamayo’s CDs since some of them are no longer available on Amazon. I just want to let you know that when Ernesto was taken to the hospital last Spring, two boxes of his CDs were found in his apartment. It is impossible to send these CDs to Cuba, where Ernesto is right now, so if anyone is interested in purchasing a CD, you can send me an e-mail. The address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Any money raised will be sent to Ernesto’s parents in Cuba. Best regards, Madelca
I will always remember his passion for the instrument.
We will miss Ernesto, he was a good friend and mentor. A big thank you to all his friends in D.C. who helped take care of him and my sincere condolences to them & the family. xo

Yo conocí a Ernesto cuando el impartía clases en Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Me duele muchisimo recibir estas noticias y estoy haciendo todo lo que puedo por promover este fondo entre todos los que lo conocimos.
Gracias a Dios. No hay que bajar la guardia nunca. A seguir orando.
