Apollo's Puppy Cataract Surgery

Donation protected
My 3 month old Australian Shepard puppy, Apollo, has been diagnosed with juvenile cataracts. He's already losing vision in his right eye and will need surgery to remove the cataracts. Unfortunately, pet insurance has deemed this a pre-existing condition and will not cover the costs of his surgery. This week has been very emotional and hectic, and I desperately need your help. Monday evening, I noticed Apollo's right pupil wasn't reflecting light properly. After looking into his eye, I saw a blue/white cloudiness. I took him to two separate vets for a diagnosis. They both said it was juvenile cataracts most likely caused by a hereditary disease. I was not expecting this diagnosis since the breeder I purchased him from had examination and DNA papers that cleared his parents of the disease. I have purchased a DNA test for hereditary diseases to determine if he is affected for HC (hereditary cataracts) or any other disease since I now don't trust my breeder's papers. He is a good candidate for cataract removal surgery, since his right eye has lost almost all vision. We have been referred to a veterinary teaching hospital 2.5 hours away, which we will have to make several overnight trips to. The hospital gave me a price quote, and the maximum it will be for the surgery is $4800. I wish I had the funds just laying around, but I don't, which is why I am asking for help. The outcome of the surgery will be restored vision and no recurring cataracts for his lifetime since they will replace the affected lenses with artificial ones. Updates will be posted.
