I am Antonio T. Williams, I have been granted a once in a lifetime opportunity to study opera and musical theatre at the distinguished International Performing Arts Institute (IPAI) in Kiefersfelden, Germany for three weeks (June 30 through July 21, 2019). To take advantage of this opportunity, I am asking for your financial support. The International Performing Arts Institute offers professional career training in both opera and musical theatre, the two genres of music that I both love and appreciate. My first year at the University of Mobile has been both challenging and rewarding. Music has always been a part of my life, both singing and playing the piano. I am thankful for the guidance of Dr. Maryann Kyle, director of graduate programs in the Alabama School of the Arts at the University of Mobile. Dr. Kyle has significantly contributed to my musical growth, in the area of voice, during my graduate studies. My career goals include working with an Opera or Musical Theater company.
My attendance at IPAI will give me the opportunity to further my growth in various musical genres. IPAI offers professional training in both musical theatre and opera from artists from around the world. The most important and primary goal of IPAI is to help participants to realize their full potential as a singer-actor in an environment that nurtures the person’s creativity while being offered real-life opportunities for artistic employment in Europe.
Therefore, I know you must be wondering why my attendance at IPAI such a big deal. During my stay at IPAI, I will receive two private voice, acting, and repertoire coaching lessons per week, as well as daily German language and dance classes. My evenings will be spent working with master teachers and guest lectures active in the opera and musical theatre industries. IPAI master teacher artists will focus on healthy musical theatre singing techniques/belting, taught by an international faculty of specialists. I will also participate in dance, acting and career building workshops, in addition to professional audition opportunities.
Housing and transportation for the Musical Theatre Intensive in Hamburg or Vienna are included. Artists will experience the opportunity to work with choreographers, casting agents and voice teachers, with students who are currently performing in shows such as Rocky, Aladdin, Wicked, Lion King, Mamma Mia, Elton John's Aida, Sister Act, Tarzan, Phantom of the Opera, to name a few. IPAI participants will have the opportunity to attend a show and possibly audition for Stage Entertainment under the guidance of the IPAI faculty.
The total cost for me to attend the institute is $4,500. I want to thank you in advance for all of your support. All donations are greatly appreciated to help me study, and further my musical growth at the International Performing Arts Institute.
