Anthony Walker Medical Care and Needs

Donation protected
Anthony "Tony" Walker was involved in a serious accident on the evening of 11/28. He was walking down Roosevelt Rd and was struck by a passing motorist, and was thrown into an adjacent driveway. He sustained serious injuries which included a severely broken tibia, which he had surgery yesterday to have a metal rod placed to fix the fragments until they can heal properly. He also has nearly 50 staples on the crown of his head to close a large flap that was nearly severed. He has multiple large abrasions to his face and upper body. Tony is well-known in our community for being the "sweet guy" who works at McDonald's on County Farm and Roosevelt in Wheaton. He always has a beautiful smile and a warm heart for all of his customers. He doesn't ask for handouts, despite the fact that he recently lost his home due to an unaffordable rent increase, and continued to work to provide for himself and others in need. Despite his recent run of misfortune, he always has something kind to say and a hopeful outlook to share with others. I visited him today, and despite the pain and stress he must be under, he was positive and happy to have the company.  Tony will be out of work for the foreseeable future, we are working to get him connected to the resources he needs, but the fact remains that he will be unemployed and in desperate need of funds to support himself. It is my hope that our local and social communities can come together and get this man the support he needs. As of now, the majority of Anthony's expenses are related to him needing to stay in a motel local to his doctors, medical bills, medical equipment, day to day costs, medications and transportation to and from these appointments. Since he does not have a personal bank account, I have a standard account that funds get deposited to and as soon as new funds are available, cash is withdrawn immediately and given to Anthony to cover his expenses.
