Anthony Ferraro-Paralympic Journey

$2,963 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 35 people in 3 months
I was contacted by the USA Judo team in early 2017 to begin training for the 2020 Tokyo ParaOlympics. USA Judo only funds a small percentage of the journey. I am responsible for getting myself to all the tournaments, practicing clubs and coaching sessions as well as funding their expense.

My goal of $10,000 will support all travel for 2019.

I will use this to purchase plane tickets, hotel expenses, training clubs, coaching sessions, private gyms, healthy food & lots of water :)

My Father has been an incredible support on this journey financially. I would like to start lightening his burden as well.

Personal Profile:

Anthony attended St. Lucy Day School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Philadelphia from Kindergarten through 6th grade. In seventh grade, Anthony transitioned to his local elementary school and started wrestling.  He attended St. John Vianney High School, in Holmdel, New Jersey where he excelled in wrestling for four years.  After graduation, he went on to wrestle for the College of New Jersey.

Anthony started judo training in January 2017 to fulfill his dream of representing the United States at the 2020, Tokyo Paralympic Games.  His judo training consists of at least five workouts per week at the Shore Thing, in Lakewood, New Jersey, and at Oishi Judo and Renzo Gracie Fight Academy in New York City. He is currently ranked the number one 73 Kg. Paralympic Judo athlete in the United States.

In 2012, the documentary filmmaker Christopher Suchorsky began interviewing and filming Anthony’s wrestling journey and life story. This film ultimately became known as “A Shot in the Dark”.  The film had its world premiere at the 26th Annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in October 2017 and is soon scheduled for release.  The film is now available to the public and a link can be found at Anthony's website asfvision.com

Anthony is an accomplished guitar player and motivational speaker.  He supports himself by playing music at various dinner clubs and at selected social engagements and by speaking engagements throughout the country.  In his spare time, he enjoys reading, music and the outdoors.
