Another Fight: Lung Cancer

This is my Brother in-law, Elias. He was diagnosed with stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, cancer that started in his lungs and spread to his bones.
Elias is a hard worker, he has overcome many hardships throughout his life. Things never came easy, he always had to work hard to achieve his goals and dreams. Elias was raised by a single mother, Gloria, who did everything she could to give Elias a good life. Elias went to Las Lomas High School, where he met his wife, Caroline. They fell in love, and married young. They knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together from the start. They have been living a happy marriage together (6 years and counting,) laughing and spending time with family and friends. Caroline is a Veterinary Assistant, and Elias proudly joined the Air Force to serve his country. Caroline and Elias have recently been planning on starting a family, but recent news has put a pause on their lives. While in boot camp, Elias developed a cough, at the time the doctors diagnosed him with having pneumonia. For weeks, he continued to have a cough with no signs of improvement. Finally after going to a doctor again for further tests, they found a tumor in his lungs. After further screenings and tests, it was found to be stage 4 Adenocarcinoma. Despite the harrowing news, Elias, with his typical optimistic attitude, was the one comforting Caroline. If you know Elias, you know he is kind, giving, and has a gentle soul. He values family and friendship. Elias is always there for his friends, family, and even strangers. Elias and Carolina need us now more than ever! Any help will be valued and appreciated. Even if you don’t have the means of helping, kind words, thoughts, and prayers will be accepted in this difficult time.
Elias is scheduled for surgery this Wednesday, 5/24/2017. He will go through Chemotherapy and Radiation for several weeks. We are still learning about the severity of the cancer, especially considering that it has spread to his bones. I will continue to update this page as I learn more.
Enlisting in the Air Force has established Elias as primary financial contributor in his family - Carolina and Gloria will be taking time off work to help Elias throughout this difficult journey. The funds are to help pay for the medical expenses and to help support his wife, Carolina, and his mother, Gloria during these hard times.
