Annie & her Diagnosis of Infantile Spasms/Seizures

Donation protected
After many tests including  a CT,  MRI, and  spinal tap, sweet 7 month old Anniston  was diagnosed with Hypsarrhythmia Infantile Spasms and Focal Seizures on March 7, 2019. This is a very severe type of epilepsy. Annie's family not only has to worry about their baby girl's health and development which is affected by these types of seizures, but they also have to worry about how expensive the treatment is. Annie's parents were given 3 options for medications to treat the infantile seizures and chose the medication thought to be the most effective even with the scary and serious side effects. She will need this medication for the next year.  Along with the stress of the cost for this medication and its potential side effects, there are many doctors and many appointments that have to be paid. Annie will have to visit her doctors at Batson once every two weeks for an EEG to check her brain wave activity. She will also have to see an eye doctor at least once every two or three months to ensure the medication is not affecting her vision. It is not the only medication Annie will need. She will also have to take a daily medication for the rest of her life and have an as-needed medication on hand for when a seizure occurs. Annie will also need physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy soon. There is no cure for this type of epilepsy. There is only hope that the medications will work and that Annie will be able to live the happiest and healthiest life she possibly can.
