Anna's Lyme Disease Treatment

Donation protected

"I went from a hardworking and dedicated flutist, to being so sick I can no longer go to school, pursue my career, or even play my beloved instrument. "- Anna

Anna Roper has loved performance art since she was six years old. She danced ballet for eleven years and began playing the flute when she turned ten.
Three years ago, Anna was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease. The bacteria has been in her body since she was about twelve years old, but began causing significant problems following a knee surgery in 2012. Even though she continued to push forward while her body fought her, Anna finally had to withdraw from Oakland University’s music program in the winter of 2015 due to the severity of her health degeneration.
Since her initial diagnosis of Lyme Disease, Anna has been diagnosed with several other chronic illnesses as well -  namely asthma, gastroparesis, and Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome - making her case much more complicated. Not only did Anna have to part ways with school and her flute, but she also lost the ability to complete simple daily tasks that one wouldn't consider an issue (driving, walking, or being by herself). She also relies on a feeding tube to receive essential nutrients for survival that her body is no longer able to digest.
Although her journey to health is ongoing, Anna is determined to complete her flute performance degree as soon as she is able. She refuses to let this roadblock stop her from living her life. She currently runs a very successful makeup boutique, and she works diligently to empower women through her business!

Unfortunately, this has put a huge financial toll on Anna and her family. Due to a lack of awareness and research of Lyme Disease, there is very little financial support available to Anna. The medical debt they have had to endure is astronomical, and this fundraiser is a portion of a larger effort to help Anna and her family.

We are so grateful for any and all support possible. Every little bit helps, even if all that is possible are thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for your support!
