This page has been created by close friends of Rhona & Annalise in hopes of helping them. Rhona and Annalise have helped us, as well as many others during times of need and despair. They know what really matters in this life. Together, they are a source of positivity and humility. Both have dedicated their lives to helping others professionally and personally. They have given much to this world and are surely due some good Karma.
It is because of this that we decided to start this Go Fund Me project.
Four years ago, Rhona began pursuing a dual-degree in law and social work. On April 23,2018, only a few weeks before her graduation, Rhona was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Although endometrial cancer is a life-changing diagnosis for any woman, it is a rare disease among younger women that can present a particular challenge--infertility. Unfortunately, Rhona has been advised to undergo a total hysterectomy – a procedure that will end her ability to become pregnant. To ensure that family building is an option in her future, Rhona has begun the process of egg freezing prior to her surgery.
While egg freezing is an effective and safe procedure, it comes at a cost. This cost is not covered by Rhona’s insurance, not even when cancer has jeopardized her fertility. They did not have an opportunity to plan financially due to the timing of this diagnosis. Rhona has not been able to bring in full-time income over the 4 years of schooling due to the demands of her rigorous dual-degree program. Additionally, she was forced to postpone the bar exam and withdraw her application from her dream job (after making it to the 3rd round of interviews) so that she can focus on her medical treatment. Annalise works a lot of overtime, which she often converts to “comp” time (instead of overtime pay) so she can accompany Rhona to her treatments/appointments.
Rhona has completed one cycle of egg retrieval (cost of $7, 280), but unfortunately, only a limited number of eggs were able to be frozen. Therefore, Rhona will have to do the entire cycle a second time (which will cost around $7,975). Rhona and Annalise have been able to pay $5,515 of the grand total of $15,255 thus far.
I know we already described these two wonderful people, but I want to say again how much they’ve helped other people, without asking for anything in return. Now is the time for us to help them.
