animal trauma bags

On September 7th, 2018 our house caught fire. Our 2 beautiful 8 month old puppies were in our home alone at the time of fire. Even though our local fire department was dispatched promptly they had no idea there were dogs in the home untill we arrived on scene. Our dogs suffered severe smoke inhalation. Our local EMS team tried to resuscitate and save our dogs as my son and I watched helplessly . In my daze I didn't think to call our veterinarian, by the time I called and she arrived on scene, 20 min had passed. In that time, our EMS had run out of oxygen, didn't have correct oxygen masks, or know doses of meds to give them to help save them. Their efforts did not help it was too late. we lost our sweet loveable babies that day.  

Our local EMS is not equip with animal supplies, or the proper education how to treat animals. This is not a hateful campaign, this is to bring awareness and education and supplies to our local EMS to ensure it never happens again. I am working with my Veterinarian DR. Allison Spayer,  and her wonderful team at Bridgeview Veterinary Hospital.  It is our intent to raise money to provide our Emergency Services with animal trauma bags, and CPR classes. Each bag will contain 2 ambu bags, 3 sizes of animal ventilation masks, 2 types of IV medications for smoke inhalation, and Narcan for dogs exposed to drugs. These bags will be assembled and donated to every EMS vehicle that I can get them on. Each bag will roughly cost $250. CPR classes will be hosted for professionals at Bridgeview Veterinary Hospital. 

Our goal is to make 25 bags or more! I want each truck and ambulance and police k9 unit outfitted.  

This fundraiser is being started to help aid in the treatment of dogs or cats on scene in any situation.
